FRONT VIEW
The front entrance stairway dominates the visual character of this building because of its size, shape, location, materials, and craftsmanship, and places a strong emphasis on the principal entry to the building. Window and door openings also reinforce the overall visual character of the building. The front windows clearly help define its character given the symmetry of placement in accordance with the dormers. The operable shutters also serve to compliment the color contrast.
Rear View
The building materials also play a role in defining its character, especially given the color and patterning of brick (first floor) and wood (second and third floors) is dominant from a distance. In this instance, the material itself is emphasized by the variety of forms it takes, including the horizontal light-colored siding and old brick with contrasting colors. The dark and light pattern of the first floor versus upper floors draws attention to its materials from a distance. The roof and roof features and projecting dormers and chimneys porches are also strong components of its visual identity.
